Meet Our Staff & Leadership

We're so thankful for the men that faithfully serve our local church family every day of the week. Their leadership, love, and compassion for people shows in everything they do. They're regular broken people like the rest of us, but they have a heart for God and a passion for the gospel.

Pastor James (JT) Sanders

Senior Pastor

Our Pastor: Brother J.T. Sanders grew up right here at North Whitfield Missionary Baptist Church. His parents started bringing their family to church here in 1986. Pastor Sanders received salvation on July 24th 1990 at a Christian summer youth camp in tunnel hill Ga. Pastor J.t and Mrs. Misti were married inside the sanctuary here on October 18th 1999. He was Ordained and served as a Deacon here on August 15th 2004. Surrendered to the Call to preach the Gospel on December 17th 2006. Ordained as a Pastor when called away to Lead Freedom Baptist Church on September 29th 2013. Returned as the assistant Pastor here from January 2015 - March 2016 and was called away again to Lead Philadelphia Baptist Church as their Pastor. In August of 2018 The Lord began to deal with Pastor Stinger (who was then the Pastor here) to have Brother Sanders return and take the oversight here allowing Pastor Stinger to step down due to health concerns. After Some time in Prayer Pastor Sanders returned, becoming our Pastor on October 14th 2018. Pastor and Mrs. Misti have three adult Children.

Our History

North Whitfield Missionary Baptist Church was organized in 1965 in a building that had previously been used as a truck stop off U.S. highway 41 back before Interstate 75 was put through the area. The truck stop relocated and the old building was rented and later purchased by a group of Christians in the small community. The little church struggled from 1965-1982 having a handful of different pastors. Then In 1982 The Lord sent Pastor Lillard V. Stringer here to lead the little church.

Lillard V. Stringer and his wife Margie had been members of Mt. Vernon Baptist under the leadership of Pastor Loyd Guffey. Brother Stringer had previously been the pastor at 3 other churches and was at that time preaching as an evangelist while singing all over the area with the southern gospel hairs gospel group. Brother Stringer had such a heart for people and for preaching that the Lord used him to reach many people in the area, from 1982-1986 the Little church had seen over 300 new members. In the middle of this amazing growth, by the Grace of God They built the current worship building and remodeled the old building for Sunday school usage. Pastor Stringer faithfully labored in the community for 36 years until the Lord called him home in late December of 2019 at the age of 84, his loving wife Margie went to meet him just 16 days later.
